How Chelsea defeated Tottenham

The Blues produced a decent home performance to register their third Premier League win in four games. Enzo Fernandez scored the only goal in the ill-tempered match at Stamford Bridge.

Nevertheless, Chelsea scored early in the second half and would've had more if it wasn't for an offside call. Spurs struggled to make an impact in the match and thought they had equalised through Sarr.

However, a VAR check ruled the goal out for a foul in the build-up. The Blues moved to the top four with the win with eight games left. The Blues are fourth in the Premier League with 52 points. They are getting into form after a difficult run to start the year.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are 14th with 34 points. They have suffered 16 defeats this season and have won just three of their last 14 league matches, putting Ange Postecoglou under immense pressure.

The Australian tactician appeared to have an exchange with the fans who booed some of his decision. Fans shouted, "You don't know what you're doing."

  • "It just doesn’t affect me. If that’s what the fans feel and if they feel I’m not doing a good job then they’ve got every right to express it. They pay their hard earned, they follow the club and they’ll be here long after I’m gone. It doesn’t affect me," he said via Football London.

    Maresca's admission on Moises Caicedo

Caicedo was brilliant against Tottenham and his boss noticed it. The Ecuador international struggled in his first season but has now settled at Stamford Bridge.

Maresca claimed he is one of the best or the best in the world in his position.

“I think in this moment he’s one of the best, or the best defensive midfielder in the world," Maresca said via Football365.
“He’s doing fantastic. The best thing about Moi is that every day he’s working serious, he’s very humble, he’s very kind, he’s polite, he’s a fantastic guy."

    Reasons for Chelsea's decline

TUKO.co.ke earlier reported that Chelsea legend John Terry explained why his former team was struggling under Maresca.

The retired defender said the Blues have shown signs of being a young team, and the minimum has to be Champions League football.
