Wamuchomba was seen leading a large crowd, which closely followed her while calling out the head of state.

How did Wamuchomba respond to being summoned?

The legislator, a close ally of former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, took to her X platform to announce that she had received a phone call notifying her of the summons.

According to Wamuchomba, she was summoned because the people of Githunguri, her area of jurisdiction, reportedly rejected false promises and projects that never materialised.

  • "The CCIO of Kiambu called me and summoned me because the people of Githunguri refused to be swayed by fake promises and projects that never materialized. You can make arrests, but that won't change the facts!" Wamuchomba said.

The MP also appeared to hit out at the head of state, urging him to ensure that every promise made to Kenyans is fulfilled.

"No more lies! You promised, deliver!" she further stated.

    Did DCI summon Karungo Thang'wa?

Wamuchomba is not the first Gachagua ally to be summoned by the DCI.

In November 2024, Kiambu senator Karungo Thang'wa was summoned by investigators over the chaos that erupted at a funeral in Limuru attended by Gachagua.

This followed running battles during the funeral of the late Erastus Nduati at the Bibirioni Boys High School playground, after goons infiltrated the event.

A viral video showed the rowdy individuals tearing down the VIP tent where Gachagua was seated, causing him to flee for safety without addressing the mourners.

Afterward, Gachagua issued a statement accusing the Kenya Kwanza government of withdrawing his security, leaving him vulnerable to the attack at the Limuru funeral.

Following the dramatic events, the DCI began investigating the matter and summoned Senator Karungo for questioning.

In a notice issued on November 28, 2024, the investigative unit outlined that they expect the lawmaker's cooperation as they investigated the chaos.

The notice mentioned the destruction of property of unknown value and injuries resulting from the dramatic turn of events.

Karungo took to social media, accusing the DCI of using intimidation tactics to silence him and others opposing the government.

He also expressed frustration over being summoned in Nyeri for an incident that took place in Limuru.
