A family in Seregeya, Likuyani sub-county, Kakamega county, is living in agony following the death of their loved one.

Vitalis was allegedly murdered by his friend Francis Mushila over KSh 50 tobacco change, leaving the deceased's family in pain.

How old was Vitalis?

Francis reportedly killed his 42-year-old friend with a steel after a bizarre argument between the two men.

The heartbroken family of the deceased sought justice for their loved one as they dismissed the allegations.

"The deceased bought tobacco worth KSh 50, but the alleged suspect conned him and sold it to another person. The deceased always owed him, and when he saw him one day walking past his home, going to a funeral, he confronted Francis over his actions. Vitalis demanded his tobacco, and they were involved in a fight that led to the death," a resident said.

Vitalis's brother expressed the pain of losing a sibling as he defended his dead brother following the incident.

Kakamega family says kin was allegedly killed over land issue

He believed he was innocent and that the suspect ought to be apprehended and brought to book immediately.

"The police should work to see the man brought to justice so that he becomes a lesson to the others, because why did he kill my brother for no reason? He is not at fault," he agonisingly said.

The family believed the death of their kin was not linked to the tobacco change but to a land issue.

They claim their kin was killed over a disagreement with a customer who bought his land earlier this year.

Vitalis's family member recounts hearing his screams

"He sold the land in January but was given half the money. In the evening, Vitalis left home to collect the remaining money. Around 7:30pm, we heard screams. He was pleading for his life from the land buyer, asking him not to kill him. When I went to check, I found a watchman next to him," a family member said.

The family asked the investigators to conduct the investigation speedily and ensure the suspect was served justice immediately.

Nyumba Kumi chairman Jacob Makungayi urged the residents to remain calm as the law and justice would prevail.

He urged them that there was no need to panic after the heartbreaking incident, and none should take matters into their hand.

Kajiado family of Geoffrey Ouma speaks

In another story, the family of Geoffrey Ouma spoke after his wife allegedly stabbed him to death in an incident that left Ongata Rongai, Kajiado residents, shocked.

Initial reports online claimed Ouma was reportedly attacked and killed by his wife for not bringing money back home.

However, the family of the deceased refuted the claims as they broke the silence after the death of their kin.
