On Wednesday, April 2, a multi-agency team led by NACADA made a major bust that led to the seizure of a massive quantity of suspected bhang.
In a coordinated operation, the team descended on Mwamogeza Village in the Kiamuasi Location of Daraja Mbili sub-location. The raid uncovered a staggering consignment of the illegal substance stashed in rented houses, specifically, seven 50kg sacks, four 90kg sacks, and two large carrier bags suspected to contain the illegal bhang drug.

Suspected Kisii drug lord escapes NACADA raid
The raid dealt a significant blow to local drug smuggling rings, but the main suspect, Geoffrey Nyabira—infamously known as Jeff—managed to slip through the authorities' net.
Nyabira is now the target of a massive manhunt by law enforcement.
“We are not relenting in our pursuit of drug barons, their merchants, and distribution networks,” declared NACADA Chief Executive Officer Anthony Omerikwa. “This seizure is a testament to our resolve. We will hunt down every individual profiting from the destruction of our youth and communities.”
Three suspects were taken into custody during the raid and are set to appear in court as investigations continue. At the same time, authorities are working to determine the street value of the recovered drugs, which are believed to be worth millions of shillings.

Omerikwa also urged Kenyans to join hands in the fight against drug abuse by speaking out and reporting any suspicious activities happening within their neighbourhoods.
“Community involvement is key. Report suspicious activities, your tip could save lives and help us dismantle these criminal networks for good,” he urged.
The raid is among a series of intensified operations by NACADA as it steps up the war on drugs ahead of a major nationwide campaign to wipe out substance abuse completely. Security agencies have committed to sustained operations targeting known drug hotspots, vowing to bring all perpetrators to justice.

Kisii raid uncovers major illicit brew syndicate
In a related story, a NACADA-led multi-agency team raided a large-scale chang’aa brewing operation in Mwaguto Village, Kisii South, seizing over 55,000 litres of kangara and 500 litres of chang’aa.
The early morning bust led to the arrest of five suspects, three women and two men, believed to be key players in a well-organised illicit alcohol network.
The brewing facility, which sat on a four-acre plot, was fully equipped with specialised tools and storage units.
Local residents welcomed the raid, saying the illegal operation had long been a source of crime and social decay.
